Review: The Rock 'n' Roll Diaries (Making It)

Undeniably unique and sensationally witty, ’Making It’ is the first novel in the Rock’n’Roll Diaries series by Jamie Scallion and it certainly strikes a chord with lovers of music and bands, with a tale of an unbound desire to succeed.

Forming a band to initially capture the heart of school-stunner Bex, front man and egotistical Burt gets the help of confused drummer Clipper, bad-boy bass-player Tea, and introvert guitarist Egg, and although polar opposites, the four misfits have one thing in common: their will to become the biggest rock band on the planet.

Through diary entries and straight-forward prose, Jamie’s expert writing style gets you into the minds of all four characters, sharing the journey with each of them as they not only find their feet in the manic world of the music industry, but discover their own, distinctive personalities as well.

Their differences cause obvious rifts in the band but their craving for success is one thing that refuses to waver, allowing the foursome to conquer even the most unexpected of challenges on their climb to the summit of stardom.

From the off The RockAteers are a serious hit; gaining an ardent fan base and catching the eye of some of music’s biggest moguls meaning the young band have some tough decisions to make early on in their careers. What began as a project to win the heart of a girl turns into a serious quest for rock’n’roll fame, with more than one music company trying to win them over and get them to sign the all-important contract.

The seriousness of some of the storylines aren’t lost in the humor, making the novel hard-hitting at times in an otherwise quirky tale of ups, downs and a serious amount of rock’n’roll.

The Rock’n’ Roll Diaries (Making It) is the first in a series of novels about the rock band, and is now available to download exclusively to your Kindle at the price of £3.99, or look out for more free chapters in the near future on www.therocknrolldiaries.com.

Charting the story of a band’s journey to potential stardom, the lighthearted and quirky book is out in full on Amazon Kindle this Friday. The RnR Diaries Revisited

Yes, it’s another blog about the Rock n Roll diaries. But if you’re reading this you’re either a) not bored of me writing about it, so good for you; or b) you have no idea what I’m talking about.

So whether you’re category one or category two, I’ll give you a run down:

‘The Rock n Roll Diaries’ is a book written by Jamie Scallion. He wrote it a while ago as a member of a band himself, and therefore the book – no surprises – is about the formation of a band. Main character Burt decides to form a rock band to get the girl of his dreams, Bex, however it’s not all plain sailing. It’s a light-hearted, humorous take on the trials and tribulations following the rise to fame of the young band, The RockAteers, and the race to win the heart of Bex.

And if that wasn’t enough, The Script have got involved and have helped out with the music – so not only is it a great book, but it has brilliant music to accompany it. It’s a unique idea which deserves as much publicity as I’m giving it – and more!

So why am I doing yet another blog about it? Well, Jamie has now kindly made more chapters available for free, which you'll find drop into your inbox if you go to the website www.therocknrolldiaries.com and sign up to the mailing list.

You’ll also receive the demo tracks along with the chapters, again, all for free!

And don’t forget, you can pre-order the book for your Kindle over at Amazon for just £1.99, or alternatively if you don’t have a Kindle you can download the Amazon Kindle app on your phone (again, for free!) and pre-order the book from there.

Make sure you head over to Facebook and ‘like’ the page, as well as following @TheRnRDiaries on Twitter to be part of the journey.

Lawson, Kodaline (and Mr T!) enjoying the book!

RnR Diaries: Update!

Since I last blogged about the Rock N Roll Diaries project, things have really taken off for Jamie Scallion's book.

To add to the Twitter and Facebook pages, a website has now been properly launched earlier this month, which can be accessed on http://www.therocknrolldiaries.co.uk.

The website allows you to listen to the demos that have been produced alongside the book (which The Script helped with) as well as news updates about the book and videos to whet your appetite.

The book itself is now available to pre-order on Amazon for your Kindle following this link http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DE9NTDE for the great price of £1.99!

The book is really taking off now and it's an exciting project to be a part of. I've already had the next couple of chapters drop into my inbox and they're just as funny and quirky as the first couple of chapters, which are still available for free download by clicking here and then selecting 'free chapters.'

Jamie has even put together a video to tell you all more about what the Rock n Roll Diaries is all about, so check it out below, and happy reading!

The Rock 'N' Roll Diaries

This is a slightly different – well, completely different – angle to the usual stuff I normally blog about, but I’m all for promoting things which is why I decided to tell you all about The Rock 'N' Roll Diaries.

Two of the things I love most are music and reading, and the two combined? Well, you can’t get much better, and The Rock 'N' Roll Diaries does just that.

Teaming up with The Script, a lovely guy called Jamie Scallion has wrote a book on the trials and tribulations of a young boy who sets up a rock band, The RockAteers, to try and win the heart of the girl of his dreams.

At first glance it may sound like a clichéd storyline, but don’t let that sway your judgement. The writing style is superb, the storyline lighthearted and I found it a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the whole book, but before this can happen we need your help to promote it.

If you want to have a read and see what you think, the first four chapters and a music demo – which Danny, Mark and Glen helped with – are all available for FREE (and we all love a freebie) here: http://www.therocknrolldiaries.com/

And if you like it? Spread the word! Let me and Jamie (@_natbcfc and @TheRnRDiaries) know what you think. Also feel free to like the Facebok page here. I have a feeling this is going to be pretty big…

Oh and I’ll throw in a video too, because I’m nice like that.
